What stands out most to me is the “spark” Dawn creates in teachers. In her Building Thinking Classrooms training, we weren’t just sitting and listening—we were up, working through problems together, using vertical spaces, sharing our thinking, and really experiencing what it feels like to be a learner in that kind of classroom. It was positive, insightful, and honestly energizing.
The best part has been seeing that carry over into our elementary classrooms. I’ve walked into K–5 rooms and seen those same structures in action in all subjects. Even our youngest learners are more confident, more engaged, and more willing to take risks with their thinking.
Dawn makes instructional shifts feel doable. Teachers leave her sessions excited, but more importantly, they actually implement what they learn—and it sticks. The impact has been long-lasting, not just a one-time initiative.
